North Walsham High School, part of the Enrich Learning Trust, is a small secondary school in Norfolk. The Role

The successful applicant will provide leadership and management of Geography in order to secure high quality teaching by all staff within the department. You will use your skills and experience to ensure the effective use of resources and the improvement of standards of learning and achievement of all pupils.

Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities of a Head of Geography include, but are not limited to:

• Teach a full timetable of Geography with requisite leadership and planning time;
• Be enthusiastic and determined to achieve the very best outcomes;
• Be passionate about teaching and learning;
• Be committed to the school’s vision: “We put the success and happiness of our students at the heart of everything we do”;
• Embody and model our values of trust, resilience, excellence and kindness;
• Be dedicated to ensuring students continually improve;
• To lead continued improvement in Geography which is our most popular option subject;
• Manage the Geography department;
• Teach both KS4 and KS3;
• To develop students’ love of Geography;
• Take an active part in CPD which includes regular and deliberate practice.

Professional development opportunities are plentiful and we are always working hard to be innovative around workload- we want you to have a balanced life and enjoy working with our children! We have really strong supportive policies on feedback, reporting, centralised planning and behaviour for learning (including centralised detentions) that allow you to focus on planning and teaching excellent lessons.

Alongside this we have a clear approach to teaching and learning which is supported by our Instructional Coaching programme. This is captured in the north Walsham Approach to Teaching.
