The Role
Sheffield Forgemasters is an iconic heavy engineering company which is capable of producing the largest and most technically challenging cast and forged steel components in the world from its manufacturing facilities in Sheffield.
In 2021 the business was acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence which secured its role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes, and is currently embarking upon a substantial recapitalisation project to modernise its plant and equipment over the next 10 years.
Sheffield Forgemasters is currently looking for a Procurement Assistant to join the Commercial Department.
As a Procurement Assistant at Sheffield Forgemasters you will assist the Purchasing Manager in meeting the company's purchasing objectives, delivering “Value for Money”, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Procurement department. You would be responsible for learning company purchasing procedures and policies and the use of systems which support the process. Ensuring activities within the role are compliant with SFEL’s Procurement Policy.
The main duties include:
Raising Purchase orders using the Epicor E10 & RS/IESA purchasing systems ensuring that all details are correct and cover all negotiated areas, applicable terms and conditions, health & Safety, etc. Sending copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests
Entering receipts into the purchasing system ensuring accuracy to allow invoices to be matched and paid and dealing with any invoice queries raised by Accounts payable
Collating Purchasing spend data by use of dashboards & Excel with breakdown to supplier and product category
Producing & updating monthly commercial statistics and graphs
Monitoring & reporting on Key supplier service levels in line with the agreed SLA’s (Service Level Agreements).
Producing routine and ad-hoc reports for the Purchasing Manager and internal key stakeholders
Assist in the collation of weekly savings sheets and be responsible for recording realised savings & updating monthly tracker reports
Any other duties commensurate with the role
Candidates must have:
Diploma in Business Studies, purchasing and supply, supply chain management or similar
Proficient user of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) & Outlook.
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Have excellent organisational skills, deadline adherence and high attention to accuracy and detail
Flexible and adaptable in their approach to work
Organised and ability to prioritise workload
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and interact with other business functions and operational areas
Be self-driven and innovative and have the ability to resolve problems
Our ideal candidate will also have:
Previous experience working in the manufacturing sector and /or experience of Public Procurement.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Procurement role or similar
Intermediate level IT skills e.g. use of formula’s, pivot tables and vlookup function up in Excel
Days/Hours of Work:
Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week.
