We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in London to assist with the appointment of a Children & Families Service Outreach Worker, on a 9-month, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary:

  • Support primary schools in maximising their free early education entitlement (FEEE) funding by ensuring school management teams have full information on how best to market and fill their available early years places.
  • Quality assure school early years funding in line with the local fundingagreement. This process will be as outlined in the funding agreement (annual10% sample of schools).
  • Raise awareness of the range of free early education places and the offer from children and family centres in local communities, and among early education and childcare providers including schools.
  • To increase the percentage of families taking up tan FEEE place within the borough in line with the Services annual targets.
  • Encourage and support eligible parents in taking up the early education and childcare offer by carrying out community outreach work enabled by children and family centres

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with school management teams in proportion to need (as measured by take-up of places locally in areas of demand) to ensure the schools systems for marketing and engagement are fit for purpose and are calibrated in line with the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment scorecard for their local area.
  • Ensure that the school is accessing its full entitlement for FEEE funding and meeting its duties under the funding agreement.
  • Work with the school management team to develop their understanding of marketing and business planning for their early years unit.
  • Work with the Quality and Sufficiency team to mediate any issues arising

between schools and childcare settings over place take up and funding. Where required, support the implementation of Funding Audits as per statutory requirements.

  • Provide support for families in choosing their preferred early years settings, including accompanying them to the settings if necessary

Qualifications:

  • Trained/educated to at least level 2/equivalent qualification level
  • Good team player and able to work on own initiative
  • Good organisational skills and be capable ofachieving agreed deadlines and targets, whilst staying motivated and focused
  • Ability to develop effective partnerships within the Council, with
  • the private sector and other external agencies - both statutory and voluntary
  • Be able to carry out basic data entry tasks for a monitoring purpose.

Experience:

  • Experience delivering outreach services in areas of disadvantage
  • Practical experience of working with families in a community/early years

setting

  • Practical experience of working with families in a community setting andknowledge of relevant legislation and policies including safeguarding and confidentiality
