Mechanical Engineer
Location: Bristol
Salary: 45K-50K
This role is within one of the biggest UK employers in aviation sector and it's purpose it to support the sustainable development of the technical infrastructure through developing and managing mechanical systems and standards, quality assuring engineering and development projects, and ensuring compliance with installation and maintenance standards.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise for mechanical disciplines for ongoing and future development and asset replacement projects, including, but not limited to; HVAC systems, Chilled Water systems and chillers, Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), baggage handling systems, lifts and escalators, Potable water systems, boiler and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
- Oversee the creation and implementation of best practice mechanical engineering policies, practices and processes, ensuring they reflect our strategic aims and Company values, and comply with all relevant legislation
- Lead on the development and implementation of technical specifications for all Mechanical aspects of infrastructure developments, ensuring any new equipment or activity is supported by the appropriate qualification documentation and is maintained appropriately
- Analyse and review gas, fuel oil and gas consumption to identify potential savings and efficiencies as part of our Continuous Improvement journey to reduce costs, improve passenger experiences, and reduce energy consumption
- Develop, update and maintain technical specifications and drawings for all mechanical aspects of infrastructure developments, ensuring any new equipment or activity is supported by the appropriate qualification documentation and is maintained appropriately
Requirements:
- Mechanical Engineer with a Degree or other recognized, equivalent qualification, in Engineering.
- Extensive and varied post qualification mechanical experience
- Excellent practical knowledge of health & safety, with demonstrable experience of developing and implementing procedures and best practice
- Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and objectives at any one time
- Flexibility allowing 24/7 availability as occasionally required to support teams during exceptional events or during difficult projects
- Knowledge of airport environment systems, including chilled water systems, HVAC and baggage systems along with experience of working with construction activities/sites, including technical sign off and commissioning would be desirable
