Northland Properties is looking for a talented, driven and enthusiastic Group Marketing Manager to join our United Kingdom & Ireland team.

With Canadian hospitality at heart and following 44 years of success in Canada, Northland Properties expanded to the UK in 2011. We now operate hotels, a resort, restaurants and bars in Newcastle upon Tyne, London Gatwick, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Sheffield and Portmarnock, near Dublin. Northland United Kingdom & Ireland will soon expand further into Scotland with the planned opening of Sandman Signature Edinburgh Airport Hotel.

Based in our Newcastle Head Office, our Group Marketing Manager will have a strong Marketing background, ideally within the hospitality sector. This role will report into the Senior Team and support the Operational Team with all aspects of Marketing across the UK & Ireland portfolio.

This successful candidate will be an all-rounder who really understands what makes effective communications and content. Ideally with a relevant degree in Marketing, Public Relations or Digital Communications and most importantly, a genuine passion for marketing, strategy, creativity, and supporting winning social media.

This role is perfect for an energetic, creative and data driven individual who will own and be accountable for the Marketing Department.

UK & Ireland Group Marketing Manager Duties


  • Provide overall leadership of Marketing Department
  • Creation of long and short-term Marketing goals/ strategy
  • Provide creative ideas for building the brands
  • Ensure effectiveness of website and social media tie ins.
  • Managing the creation and organization of brand assets and materials
  • Keep brand leaders appraised of brand performance, activity, adherence to plan
  • Champion the brand internally and help everyone in the business understand our brand's importance
  • Create and maintain annual marketing budget
  • Analysing and advising on potential strategic partner relationships
  • Maintain social and online UK&I group social guidelines updated - responses to guests, use of imagery etc.
  • Manage relationship with external agencies
  • Travel across UK&I properties
  • Create and review specific targets, ensure goals are analytically viable
  • Analyse monthly reports following creation of documents by Marketing Executives
  • Creation of Marketing campaigns
  • Proof read all produced brand collateral and provide brand leaders with final sign-off
  • Final sign-off of daily marketing spend
  • Brief Marketing Executives on design projects
  • Update and keep in contact with Canadian traditional Marketing team, online Marketing team, website managers and content specialists
  • Writing press releases
  • Journalist liaison
  • Attend relevant networking opportunities and training
  • Crisis management
  • Internal communication
  • Working with legal support on specific projects
  • Creation and sign-off of contracts with suppliers

Experience and Required Education

  • Past marketing experience, ideally within the hospitality industry
  • Social media campaign management and reporting experience
  • Proficient in copy writing
  • Website management training
  • Relevant degree or further work experience
  • Significant experience in relevant analytical tools

  • Excellent copywriter with an objective commercial eye who understands our guests
  • Outstanding communication skills (both in person and written)
  • Ability to inspire all levels of the company to get involved in brand promotion
  • Exemplary planning and time management skills
  • Trouble shooter, who is able to work efficiently and effectively to various deadlines
  • Work collaboratively cross- departmentally, bringing new ideas and focus
  • Proactive self-starter, team player with a positive attitude and love of the hospitality industry
  • Able to quickly establish good working relationships both in and out of house
  • Strong analytical skills who is able to utilise this data to regularly inform strategy
