C J Associates is an expanding site investigation firm based out of Bristol and Bridgend. A proud member of the RSK Group, with over 45 years of extensive industry experience, we strive to produce ground investigation work of the highest industry standards. we now have an exciting opportunity for a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join our team in Avonmouth, Bristol, UK

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervision of site investigations (working away from home will be required).
  • Managing Health and Safety on site.
  • Logging of soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:2015+A1:2020
  • Supervision of site investigation works.
  • Completion of Desk Top Studies.
  • Gas and groundwater monitoring and sampling.
  • Installation of technical instrumentation such as Vibrating Wire Piezometers and In Place Inclinometers.
  • Data processing
  • Factual reporting,
  • Assisting project manager with project related duties.
  • Oversee department equipment - allocation, hire, servicing and repairs.
  • Travel and attend internal and external meetings as required.
  • Adhere to working instructions as specified from internal and external clients.
  • Conduct internal paperwork as required.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties.

Professional and Technical Skills:

  • Experience in compliance with CDM regulations and production of H&S documentation.
  • Knowledge of UK geology.
  • Soil and rock logging skills.
  • Use of project related software such as HoleBase SI.
  • Site supervision of drilling operations.
  • UK Driving License.

Desirable Professional Qualifications:

  • CSCS Card.
  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering role.
  • SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme).
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety).
  • Asbestos Awareness.
  • 3- Day First Aid Qualification.
  • CAT and Genny trained.
  • Geology or geoscience related degree.

  • Experience of people management and supervision.
  • Flexible in approach to work – both with regard to working hours and working away from home.
  • Ability to work to deadlines & targets.
  • Ability to work in a team towards a mutual goal.

  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all external clients.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Problem solving.

Salary and Benefits:

  • £26,000 per annum
