Job Description

We are looking for an additional Cook who can also act as a Kitchen Assistant on days when not cooking. This is a bank position to provide cover for absences and annual leave. Applicants should able to produce nutritious and well balanced varied menus for the elderly and be able to cater for special dietary needs.

Responsibilities as Cook:

• To ensure that the kitchen is well run
• To make sure that all food is cooked and presented to the standard of the home
• That residents’ dietary needs are recorded and meals prepared accordingly
• That the hygiene and safety standards are adhered to
• That all kitchen staff are happy in their work
• Ordering all stock
• That all food orders are checked and stored away and that all stock is rotated

Responsibilities as Kitchen Assistant:

• To assist in the kitchen and provide a service to residents
• To prepare breakfast trays for residents
• To provide jugs of fresh water/squash to residents in their rooms once a day
• To carry out drinks rounds mid-morning and afternoons
• To prepare vegetables
• To assist in serving meals at the counter
• Undertake rinsing of dirty crockery and loading the dishwasher throughout the working day
• To carry out cleaning tasks against a daily and weekly rota
• To take advice on safety, dietary and menu preferences of residents, liase with nursing staff.

This role is subject to a satisfactory DBS clearance and references.

Job Types: Permanent, Zero hours contract

Salary: £11.00 per hour
