Brief Description


Provide assurance as to whether Building’s assets are compliant with company standards. Review survey and examination reports and develop renewal feasibility plans. Input to the development of company standards and procedures. Undertake analytical work on compliance indicators and failure precursors for the Route. Investigate Buildings asset related incidents.


About the role (External)


Key Accountabilities –

1.Manage the asset stewardship and inspection of operational property building fabric assets in accordance with asset policy and technical strategy, recommending remedial and renewal works and maintain comprehensive asset history records.

2.Develop and assist with the management of prioritised maintenance requirements, workbank schemes and plans in accordance with the technical asset management strategy and budget.

3.Produce maintenance remits and manage their inclusion in the annual workbank plans. Oversee the development and implementation of schemes, verifying requirements are sufficient, correctly interpreted and delivered. Specify and monitor the implementation of risk control measures where proposed works are deferred.

4.Act as sponsor for complex and specialist maintenance and all renewal schemes. Discharge all sponsor’s accountabilities in accordance with corporate policy.

5.Carry out technical analysis and risk assessment of maintenance schemes and advise on compliance adherence and management.

6.Provide operational property remits for enhancement schemes and support the operational property development process for acceptance of enhancements.

7.Review proposals from other asset groups or external organisations that impact on maintenance or renewal activity, identify potential synergies, and develop optimised plans as applicable.

8.Monitor trends in maintenance and renewal work, asset condition, failure, and failure precursors. Check that appropriate action is specified to predict and prevent similar failures.

9.Provide property management support and participate in investigations of incidents relating to building. fabric maintenance and renewals.

10.Manage Stakeholders engagement and relationships whilst maintaining a stream of consistent communication.


Essential

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or Structural Engineering
  • Good knowledge of technical, safety and condition standards relating to the building assets
  • Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution

Desirable

  • Degree in a relevant subject
  • Chartered Engineer or Surveyor
  • Member of a relevant professional institution
